Positioning the Microphone
Positioning the microphone correctly is one of the most important things you can do to enhance your recognition accuracy. If the microphone moves even slightly away from the optimal position, your recognition accuracy may significantly deteriorate.

You should position your headset the same way each time you dictate:

1) Adjust the headset so that it fits comfortably on your head.
2) Move the microphone element to the side of your mouth to avoid the noise from your breathing.
3) Make sure that the microphone element is close to your mouth, but not touching it. As a rule, keep it about a thumb's width from the side of your mouth.
4) Make sure the front of the microphone points toward your mouth. The front may be indicated by a colored dot, the word "Talk," or some other label.

Once you have positioned the microphone correctly, remember to position the microphone the same way each time you use it.
